Explore First Landing State Park and Cape Henry Lighthouse

You don’t even have to leave base to get to this incredible historic site at Fort Story that you won’t want to miss! First Landing State Park is located at the spot where the first English settlers landed in 1607 before making their way to the site that would be Jamestown.

Within First Landing State Park, you’ll find educational exhibits, nature trails, and more to explore, including Cape Henry Lighthouse. The lighthouse was the nation’s first federally funded public works project, authorized by George Washington and completed in 1792.
