The Supreme Court unanimously ruled to eliminate the six-year cap on retroactive CRSC payments, benefiting over 9,000 disabled veterans from all military branches. The landmark decision allows veterans to receive combat-related special compensation dating back to when their entitlement began, regardless of how long ago. The case centered on Marine veteran Simon Soto who developed PTSD after two tours in Iraq and was wrongfully limited to six years of retroactive benefits despite being eligible for more.
